Heart Broken
Disclaimer: I have become a passionately emotional person where my family and friends are concerned. The following will most likely be all over the place, filled with passion, emotion and could also be heartbreaking to some. Read at your own risk of tears and possibly even conviction.
Today makes over a month since I decided I needed some time away from all the social media , texting, fb etc. I have shared post on fb some , texted some, but mostly have enjoyed getting to know my family and friends smiling faces once again.
Several conversations with friends over the weekend and through text have been heart wrenching and today's was no different. Coupled with a very long interesting day at work and as per usual short handed and overworked my emotional level is just shot.
More than one friend feels like they are lacking direction and purpose. More than one friend is struggling with adult life growing pains (myself included).
The past few weeks have become very precious memories for me as I have had time to dig and I mean really dig into God's Word. To really spend time listening to Him. We had a visiting pastor a couple weeks ago and some of the notes I took are still with me today in my mind.
The visiting pastor was preaching on Luke 8:4-15.
“A farmer went out to plant his seed. As he scattered it across his field, some seed fell on a footpath, where it was stepped on, and the birds ate it. 6Other seed fell among rocks. It began to grow, but the plant soon wilted and died for lack of moisture. 7Other seed fell among thorns that grew up with it and choked out the tender plants. 8Still other seed fell on fertile soil. This seed grew and produced a crop that was a hundred times as much as had been planted!” When he had said this, he called out, “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.”
9His disciples asked him what this parable meant. 10He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets8:10a Greek mysteries. of the Kingdom of God. But I use parables to teach the others so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled:
‘When they look, they won’t really see.
When they hear, they won’t understand.’8:10b Isa 6:9 (Greek version).
11“This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is God’s word.12The seeds that fell on the footpath represent those who hear the message, only to have the devil come and take it away from their hearts and prevent them from believing and being saved. 13The seeds on the rocky soil represent those who hear the message and receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they believe for a while, then they fall away when they face temptation.14The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life. And so they never grow into maturity. 15And the seeds that fell on the good soil represent honest, good-hearted people who hear God’s word, cling to it, and patiently produce a huge harvest."
Some of the Pastor's points.
The right seed in the right soil gets us growth.
Some of us have heard the story, but failed to grasp the lesson.
The Seed is God's Word.
When we listen to God's Word expect the Devil to in some way show up.
If we are hard hearted then we are just right for the enemy to come and take away God's Word.
Beware of Shallow initial emotions to God's Word.
Take care how we hear.
Hearing and Heeding the Word is a matter of the Heart.
Testing will prove the fervency of our faith.
Guys and Gals,
I know I am different and I also know that I am speaking to myself just as much as you who might be reading this to find a small glimpse into my heart. When I apply what I have been taught through God's Word and through the open door of communication with God through prayer then I can call on my Abba Father for anything. So today/tonight I am calling on Jesus because it is heart breaking to see friends and family struggle. I know all I can do is pray for them and hope that one day they will see they have purpose and they have direction. That they truly do matter. That I can see the finger prints of God in their lives. That their purpose and direction is because of Jesus God's Son. That when they live God's dream, life is never simple or easy (that was never the promise) but it is so very abundant.
When I live God's dream for my life and not someone else's dream for my life it isn't always easy but the blessings and the freedom in Jesus Christ are so abundant.
So friends who read this.... Press on. Keep digging into God's Word. Let us run the race together that God has placed before us by encouraging one another to keep digging into His amazing Word.
Until next post
2 Timothy 2:15, 19 NLT
"Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,”2:19a Num 16:5. and “All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil.”
