Only Jesus!

As I sit at my desk eating lunch, the words from the song we sang this morning in church keep resonating on repeat in my head. Interestingly these are the only two words that I can fully remember from the song(and it is an excellent song in its entirety).
What thoughts those two words evoke though - Only Jesus-Only Jesus.

There is a video series that the speaker talks about how indescribable God is. This speaker takes us out into space and shows us pictures of different stars. The last one he shows us is this.

Only Jesus was willing to take my punishment for my sin. 
Only Jesus was willing to create the world knowing He would die for the same world.
Only Jesus can heal-physical, mental and spiritual.
Only Jesus loves so deeply. 
Only Jesus can fill the empty void. 
Only Jesus will always be there for me and never leave me and never walk away from me. 
Only Jesus!
Only Jesus!

    AMEN! There is another song whose lyrics include:"Only Jesus can satisfy your soul. And only He can take a life and make it whole. He will give you peace you never knew; sweet love and joy and heaven too.. Only Jesus can satisfy your soul."

 It has been a while since my last post. Life has happened. Changes have occured. I am still here and striving to live intentionally for Jesus in all that I do. I choose to sing

It is April 6, 2020. Corona-virus is a Pandemic currently holding the world in a clutching fear and chaos. On the flip side of the same coin are the people who don't think it is any big deal. Also held in some sort of fear even though they would deny it. I don't start this post out with that sentence to start a debate or a war. I start it as the truest statement of the world as I can see it, from the small corner I call home. I have family grieving the loss of their mother(my great Aunt) from the homes they are quarantined too because of this virus. There is no final viewing to say goodbye. There is no one last hug and kiss and squeeze of their mother's hand. The Coroner arrived at their home to pick up the bag of clothing they wanted their mom buried in and he had to pick it up from the driveway, spray it down while dressed with gloves and mask. "and as your days, so shall your strength be"

I think we can all say the last year and a half has been a different kind of struggle.  On so many different levels.  As I was driving home from work today this song came back from years of playing it with my mom and brother. It struck me how many times as a young kid I didn't like this music or that music because it was "old fashioned", but now the stuff I used to call old fashioned has become my theme and or reminder of Who my Strength comes from. Todays Christian worship music is good and can brighten a day and some of it is even amazing and has the core of what our hearts need to hear, but it isn't quite the same as the "old fashioned" music we didn't like as kids. There are so many good friends and family members in my prayers for this or that.
