What Breaks My Heart The Most

As I sat down to eat my dinner tonight, the song "Come to the Table" was playing.
As I listened to the words of the song my fork slowly lowered to my plate....as the tears started down my face.

I asked myself..."what breaks my heart?"

I could write a list, of every time I have been mentally, spiritually, or physically hurt, left out, forgotten, shattered, when my world has fallen apart, my day didn't go as I had planned, when I was the after thought.....the list is endless.
All these things break my heart, but they are the selfish part of me, wanting to throw a pity party, to live in my dis-spare, to wallow in the dreariness of my life.

Then I asked myself, "What breaks Jesus' heart about me?"
The list I came up with probably doesn't even touch the surface.
My selfish desires, my self pity party, my complaining, and the fact that more often than not I don't "come to the table" to be set free with the redeemed, even though I myself am redeemed.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
My life would not be instantaneously perfect, I would not be without my faults, I would not be without my struggles, but if I would remember to "come to the table" I would find more of His abundant Life.

Jesus didn't say life would be perfect or without struggles or trials or grief or sarrows.
Jesus said that He came to give me(you) Life but not just Life, Life more Abundant.
Life is a series of emotions, a mountain after a valley.
Jesus' Life more Abundant is not at all any of my selfish desires.

His Life more Abundant is the smile I wear on my face that comes only from His Joy!
When I carry His Word on my lips and in my heart.
When I look at the customer or coworker that has the potential to piss me off and remember God loves them too-Unconditionally!
When I remember that the friend I have said goodbye to in my heart because I have been called to a different life path, are just as much my friend now as before because of God's Grace!
When I watch my friends and family grieve or close the door of communication for a time for whatever reason, that God's Unconditional love through respect of their grief or privacy shows through in the quietness of my lips in prayer for them.

When I remember all these are a part of Christ Jesus Abundant Life- then and only then do I find Jesus' peace and contentment and my redeemed heart "Comes to the table" to take my place beside my Savior and I am set free and my world is no longer dreary.

And I can rest.

I rest in the arms of Peace.

And I am blessed.

"We all start on the outside
The outside looking in
This is where grace begins
We were hungry, we were thirsty
With nothing left to give
Oh the shape that we were in
Just when all hope seemed lost
Love opened the door for us
He said come to the table
Come join the sinners who have been redeemed
Take your place beside the Savior now
Sit down and be set free
Come to the table
Come meet this motley crew of misfits
These liars and these thiefs
There's no one unwelcome here, no
So that sin and shame that you brought with you
You can leave it at the door
And let mercy draw you near
Just come to the table
Come join the sinners, you have been redeemed
Take your place beside the Savior now
Sit down and be set free
Come to the table
Just come to the table
To the thief, to the doubter
To the hero and the coward
To the prisoner and the soldier
To the young, to the older
All who hunger, all who thirst
All the last, all the first
All the paupers and the princes
All who fail you've been forgiven
All who dream, all who suffer
All who loved and lost another
All the chained, all the free
All who follow, all who lead
Anyone who's been let down
All the lost you have been found
All who've been labeled right or wrong
Everyone who hears this song
Just
Come, come to the table
Oh eh, come join the sinners you have been redeemed
Take your place beside the Savior
Just sit down and be set free
Oh come on
Just sit down and be set free
Come to the table
Come on now
Come to the table
You're welcome here"

'So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.
For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters.
But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature.
Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.
For the whole law can be summed up in this one command:
“Love your neighbor as yourself.”
But if you are always biting and devouring one another, watch out!
Beware of destroying one another.
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to His cross
and crucified them there. Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.'
Galatians 5:1,13-15,22-26 NLT

P.S. Thank you Sidewalk Prophets for the song "Come to the Table" and Mark Lowry for the words in "Open Heart Surgery"

P.S.S Supper was delicious when I finally got around to eating it- I even had doubles (seconds) : )
